Failure analysis of HVAC system in biological laboratory

Sep 22, 2021

1.1 Failure of the air supply system

In the entire HVAC system, the air supply system plays a very, very important role. Because the air supply system can effectively ensure the normal operation of the exhaust system, once any failure occurs in the laboratory, the laboratory personnel need to be evacuated. During this evacuation period, the air supply system can provide good negative pressure for the entire biological laboratory. This will not only provide a good processing environment for staff evacuation, but also ensure that the internal environment of the biological laboratory is relatively stable. However, if the air supply system fails, it is easy to cause a safety accident during the evacuation of the staff.

1.2 Sensor failure

The sensor is mainly responsible for transmitting signals in the HVAC system of biological laboratories. Once the sensor fails, it will cause errors in the transmitted signals. In this way, when the system is running, it will deviate from the preset procedures of the system itself. Therefore, in the design process, builders and designers must reliably detect the performance and stability of the sensor, and then put it into use. But in fact, the response characteristic of the sensor is easy to be ignored. Once this response characteristic is ignored, it will directly cause problems with the design value of the debugging result, and error in signal transmission will lead to more serious accidents.

1.3 Exhaust system failure

In the entire system, the failure of the exhaust fan is very serious. This is because the ventilation system of the biological safety laboratory must use the exhaust fan to perform variable frequency exhaust. This is because biological laboratories often conduct high-biohazard experiments, even if they are working in the daytime, no positive pressure is allowed. Therefore, the design requirements for HVAC and HVAC automatic control systems are very high. Specific details include that when the exhaust fan or exhaust fan frequency conversion failure occurs, the system needs to be able to automatically switch to the backup exhaust fan and its inverter. Only in this way can the negative pressure in the entire laboratory room be in good condition. But in fact, once the exhaust fan has a problem, it will cause the exhaust fan to stop, and this kind of shutdown will cause the entire system to malfunction.
